Tom Furr spent his 39-year career in insurance claims with The Hartford and as a manager of Western Division at American National Insurance. He graduated with a BA in History and achieved the professional designations of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and as an Associate in Risk Management (ARM). Since retirement in 2007, he has been active in his church as a Stephen Minister and Stephen Ministry Leader. He is co-founder of the church’s Hospital Ministry and has volunteered for the Abundant Blessings Ministry for foster children. He is a volunteer at Mercy Hospital, and since 2017 he has served as a CLAIM Counselor for Medicare under the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP).
Tom and Jan have four children and seven grandchildren. They enjoy traveling, reading, and boating on Table Rock Lake with the family. Jan also enjoys knitting, and playing bridge.
