Jan Furr

spent her career teaching French, English and ESL for 25 years after receiving her BS in Ed. with a major in French and a graduate degree of an MA in English.

Since retiring, she has spent her time volunteering at church and in the community. She has served at the Pregnancy Care Center as a mentor and class facilitator for Parents and the Law, as a CASA, a Reading Buddy for second graders through the Council of Churches, as a volunteer for Mercy Hospital Springfield in Pediatric ICU, on the Pediatric floor, at Mercy Seniors, in the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary office, in the Mercy Breast Center and at the Heart Hospital. She also served as Board Secretary for Mercy Hospital’s Auxiliary Board, and as Board Secretary for MO Association of Hospital Auxiliaries.

She has served her PEO chapter as chaplain, guard, Yearbook Committee leader, and as a STAR Scholarship Committee member. As a member of DAR, she served as her chapter’s Women’s Issues Committee Chair and was the state winner of DAR Women's Issues Essay Contest in 2017.

She was a co-founder of Abundant Blessings Ministry for foster families at her church in Nixa MO.

Jan and her husband Tom have four children and seven grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, reading, knitting, playing bridge, and boating on Table Rock Lake with the family.
